Our expansive course commences October 2024 and will finish March 2025. All modules will be hosted at Studio 52, Cathedral Quarter, Belfast.

  • Module 1: October 11-13

  • Module 2: November 8-10

  • Module 3: December 6-8

  • Module 4: January 10-12

  • Module 6: February: 1-2 AND 21-23

  • Module 7: March 14-16

OUR MODULES:

  • We will uncover the naturalness of the breath and explore basic breathing techniques, Prana, the Pancha Vayus and Bandhas, and how the breath-wave along with these subtle body systems - support, inform, and guide the physical practice of yoga.

  • In this module we will take a deep-dive into the anatomy (muscles, joints, bones, ligaments, tendons, fascia and the relationships between them) and the biomechanics (the study of movement) of the human body. We will use this knowledge to deconstruct the asanas, learn how to work with common injuries, use our anatomical knowledge for cueing and class planning and dive into the physiology of breath-work.

  • This module will show us how yoga is not only a function of the Far East but is also intrinsic to Celtic tradition. It will introduce the familiar Indian philosophies of Vedanta and Tantra as well as Patanjali’s Sutras but it will look at them in the light of Celtic and specifically Irish traditions.

  • Music has the power to move a single soul or thousands together, and this union between music and movement is older than the practice of yoga. In this module you’ll play with the elements of rhythm, tone, structure and harmony to create passages of music that will enhance the feelings & textures that you wish to explore in your personal practice and class offerings.

  • Ayurveda is the holistic healing science for the body – sister to Yoga’s healing science for the mind. This holistic medical system that originated in India thousands of years ago takes a personalised, preventative approach to optimal health and longevity in harmony with nature’s pulse.

  • Develop your teaching presence, find your voice and learn how to calmly and confidently ‘hold space’ for your students. Teaching practice will be encouraged and supported from the beginning of our time together to help shine a soft light on the areas you find most challenging. Through practical and loving feedback we will help build confidence, dissolve inhibitions and evoke your inner teacher.

  • Guidance and advice for the transition from training to teaching

  • We will systematically and creatively work through many of the classical and adapted yoga postures. Families of postures that have similar movements will be explored through structural breakdown, applied and practical yoga anatomy, mobility and movement mechanics, individualised alignment and breath-work. This area of exploration will also include modifications and adaptations, use of props for specific needs, cueing approaches and demonstrating.

  • Understanding Vinyasa Flow Yoga begins by paying homage to our lineage, which derives from the practical beauty of Sri Krishnamacharya’s teachings. An exploration of Pranams and classical Surya and Chandra Namaskars will form a clear and steady foundation for developing basic and intelligent sequences for personal practice and teaching.

  • Utilizing Krishnamacharya’s ‘Vinyasa Krama’ method we will further develop our understanding of intelligent and purposeful sequencing that honours the natural unfolding of the body in the flow - moving from simple to complex in the practice. Understanding the ‘why’ behind the ‘doing’ will develop skill and confidence not only in your personal practice but also in the creation of class plans and the delivery of your offerings.

  • This new movement map honours the unique and individual physicality of each body to access a deep feeling state within ones personal practice andteachings. Through this module we will gain a greater understanding of what mobility is and how it fits in to a modern-day yoga practice. Learn the techniques to fortify your own practice and how best to communicate that experience and knowledge to support your students in the flow.

  • Throughout this course we will explore how the combination of Mobility and Vinyasa Flow Yoga can create a eurythmic and expansive experience on the mat, one providing the stable, supportive container for the expressive free-flow of the other.

  • Aligning with the forces of nature awakens a sense of equanimity in the body, enhancing our health and wellbeing. Learn how to work with the active solar current to enliven your power and potential, and the restorative lunar current to replenish your vital energy. This balanced approach is essential for modern day living.

  • Throughout this course we’ll quietly and patiently dive beneath the surface of the body to awaken the natural presence that is always there. The practice of meditation teaches us how to fully awaken to our life and be with everything exactly as it is, while befriending ourselves from a place of self-compassion and stillness.
