Mark Cregan and Eleanor Steane are the Founders of Function and Flow Yoga. Together with over 30 years of practice, training and teaching, they're here to offer you their unique approach to practice and support you on your own path of discovery through movement and breath work.
MEET MARK
As a teacher and student, Mark is continually learning and evolving and appreciates all movement practices that offer him a presence of mind. His first love is Vinyasa Flow Yoga, which he’s practiced for many years; enjoying the creativity and freedom it has provided. His journey into movement eventually unearthed a slower-paced, anatomical style of yoga that helped him understand his body more - introducing mobility and strength work to his practice has transformed how he moves and teaches.
With over 13 years of teaching experience, Mark offers an intelligent and relevant style of yoga for students wanting to connect to their bodies and improve the way they move.
Fusing up-to-date body mechanics with a traditional asana practice has allowed Mark and Eleanor to create Function and Flow Yoga. Mobility creates skillful control in posture work and the fluid transitions that are synonymous with Vinyasa Yoga, and what he has discovered is - the more space, strength, and support created in the body, the richer the meditative experience can be in the flow.
Along with weekly in-person classes at Studio 52, Mark’s passion is in offering annual Function and Flow teacher trainings that help build a community of critical thinkers and conscious movement specialists.
MEET ELEANOR
Having studied under the guidance of several influential teachers around the globe since 2004, Eleanor is one of Ireland’s most notable teachers and continues to further inspire the next generation of teachers during her teacher trainings from 2016 onwards.
Alongside her weekly in-person Vinyasa Flow classes at Studio 52, this mum of two has a deep passion for supporting and empowering women who are preparing for the birthing process and parenthood through her pregnancy and active birth education classes; as of 2022, Eleanor is also a fully qualified Nurturing Birth doula.
Over the past 19 years, Eleanor has breathed life into several yoga studios in Belfast, establishing safe and non-competitive spaces for practice while building a dedicated community of practitioners in the process. She has created and delivered specialist yoga programs for children, women, pregnancy, parenthood, and mental health, teacher training courses, and continued professional development modules, alongside creative and curated projects with local musicians and DJs to offer something truly unique to the yoga community she belongs to.
Eleanor’s classes combine a deep commitment to the lineage of traditional yoga practice, alongside modern, functional movement principles, intuitive and adaptive alignment cues, and subtle breath-work and meditation techniques.
